Is uBank Legit? Review + a $20 Bonus

How to get a $20 Bonus Plus Fee- Free Banking with uBank

People often wonder if online-only banks are legit and how to use them. I’ve been with uBank (previously 86 400) since September 2020.

This is my personal experience plus you can get a $20 bonus below.

How do I get $20 From ubank?

If you want a $20 bonus all you need to do is join ubank with the code S7VL6WF and once you have used your card 3 times, the $20 bonus will be deposited into your account.

You will need your ID and details to add but it is a quick, secure process.

What is ubank?

Ubank is an online-only option for banking that has been around since 2008.

Recently, they combined with 86 400 to provide even better options.

They are fee-free so there no monthly account-keeping fees, overdraft fees etc.

Getting set up only takes 2 minutes and you can easily open joint accounts too.

Is ubank Customer Service Good?

I haven’t had to contact customer service more than once but the one time I did they were great.

Fast, efficient and thorough.

In my experience, most of the online only options seem to respond faster and are easier to deal with than the “Big 4”.

Does Up Work Overseas?

As with other Visa cards it can be used anywhere Visa is accepted.

Make sure you let them know where you are so they don’t block your transactions though.

How do I Deposit Cash?

Unlike other online-only banks, you can only deposit into your ubank account by transferring from another account.

This means there is nowhere you can physically deposit cheques or your random coins.

It is one of the few things I don’t like about ubank and is why I have a few bank accounts with various banks.

What About Home Loans?

ubank has home loan options which can be applied for quickly and easily online.

I have not applied and don’t know anyone personally who has a loan with them so I can’t comment on this other than I know it’s an option.

What About Joint and Savings Accounts?

In a matter of minutes you and your joint account holder can easily have a regular spending account and savings account if you want.

The process is so fast you’ll wonder why you didn’t switch to online only banking before.

Savings accounts are easy to set up with a few clicks plus they have bonus interest rates that can be activated when you save.

Using the Ubank App

The app itself is easy to use although I prefer other banking apps.

Scroll down or swipe across to find all your accounts, your spending, upcoming expenses and details to help you know more about your budget and spending.

Overall Thoughts About Ubank Banking

The $20 bonus is enticing and I imagine applying for a homeloan is easy if you use them as your main back.

Being fee-free is what really appeals to me and the fact I can use my card anywhere.

Overall, they are a good option although not my favourite. If you want a $20 bonus all you need to do is join ubank with the code S7VL6WF and once you have used your card 3 times, the $20 bonus will be deposited into your account.
