Have you ever thought about selling your own online prints?
Today we have Marian Graham who is doing just that! She runs Life’s Little Letters on the side while also being a mum of two, an architect and has a passion for art and decor.
What do you do?
I am an architect with an online business on the side selling wall art prints. I do all sorts of prints from children’s prints, home decor, pet portraits and personalised prints. I recently launched Life’s Little Letters, an online print store, while on maternity leave with my second child.
How much do you make?
The business is still very new, but based on the past few weeks of sales I would estimate (and hope for!) a minimum of $5000 in the first 12 months. Who knows where it might go after that.
How and why did you get into it?
I have always designed prints for my friends and family for the big milestones in their lives such as weddings, the birth of a child, a new home or pet etc. and when I was pregnant with my first child I designed all the artwork for his nursery. I wanted to produce personal designs for all of the big milestones that my children would encounter. Many of my prints contain sayings, names, dates etc and that’s why I called it Life’s Little Letters. So many friends became interested they started requesting prints for their friends and family too and that’s when I decided to set up the business.
What are the pros?
I love what I do it is most definitely a hobby I have had for years. I can do it from home and work around having children and a part-time job.
What are the cons?
There really aren’t many. Maybe just very little downtime! It takes up a lot of my spare time, especially with having small children.
What do you wish you had done differently?
Maybe not launched it with a 15-week old baby! But I wasn’t ready before he was born and I wanted to launch it in time for Christmas it made the most sense.
What tips would you give others?
If you don’t try you won’t succeed. Just make sure it is something that you really love and enjoy and it makes it all so worthwhile. Follow your passion.
I am a mum of two boys – my inspiration, James and Ben – and an architect who has a passion for art and home decor! When James was born I wanted to produce beautiful and personal designs for all those ‘big life moments’ that he encountered. Soon I was producing prints for all the milestones in the lives of my family and friends. That’s when I started Life’s Little Letters -an online print store offering stunning wall art prints for your home and your loved ones.
I hope that your most important life moments can also be celebrated with the little letters that mean so much to you.
