Is EveryPlate Worth it? How Fresh is it? Full Review of EveryPlate

EveryPlate is a new meal delivery service for Aussies which is aimed at being cheaper while still having options and providing value. I tried 3 boxes to see how it would go and have been comparing the other meal delivery services again. This review is completely my own experience.

What Comes in an EveryPlate Box?

Virtually everything you need! All that is needed from your pantry are things such as oil, eggs, vinegar etc. Vegetables, meat, pasta, rice, condiments, seasonings, everything else is in the box.

How Much is in an EveryPlate box?

With a selection of sizes, how much is in your box will vary. This is the box with 6 meals for 4 people. We’ve found the sizing to be fairly accurate and meals easy to make.

And our meals for the week include

How Much Does EveryPlate Cost?

Again, this will depend on the size of your box. If you use this link you get 40% off your first box making it so cheap compared to others. I opted for the 6 meals for 4 people which is $134.16 + $9.99 shipping. The cheapest box is 3 meals for 2 people at $41.94 + $9.99 shipping.

This means, for $80 + shipping you can get 6 meals for 4 people.

How Fresh is EveryPlate?

My experience with this was mixed. Some items were good such as the bagged salad, others were not. Cucumbers and tomatoes were either soft or not ripe. Zucchini looked and felt like it would only last a couple of days. Half the herbs were great, the other half was already slimy.

In my first box, the chicken was a bit iffy. While it still had a week expiry, it didn’t look it. The tomatoes were nowhere near ready and flavourless. Herbs and cucumbers needed to be used in the next 2 days and a couple of tins dented but the rest of the food was fresh and we simply prioritised the meals accordingly.

In my second box, half the meat was missing so we couldn’t do the meals properly. The bagged salad was beginning to turn but the tomatoes were riper. The cucumbers and zucchini had mould within 3 days so weren’t able to be used.

With my third box, some of the zucchini won’t be able to be used as they are already soft/going mouldy. The cucumber is extremely soft, as are the tomatoes. Meat, salads, herbs and potatoes are all good though.

In terms of freshness, they are not the freshest.

They don’t cater to allergies much but they do make it clear which meals are suitable and all ingredients are labelled so you can know. We have a few allergies so switched ingredients from our own pantry a bit and gave away what we couldn’t eat.

I love that EveryPlate has less packaging because the food isn’t split into individual meal kits. However, there is still a lot of plastic with every herb and sauce individually wrapped.

Less variety than other options but the meal sizes are good and you can still opt for gourmet meals e.g. steak options.
