Get the lowest prices and best deals for Christmas plus making 2018 your best year yet!
I used to think Black Friday and Cyber Monday were stupid American things designed to make us spend more money (partially true…) but looking at some of the deals available to Australians I realised we can save money, do our Christmas shopping and invest in ourselves with courses to increase our skills or income, book holidays and more so 2018 is our best year yet!
What to look for
Sales are designed to suck you in and make you spend up big! Make a list of things you need e.g gifts to buy, courses you want to do, a planner for 2018 along with a list of things you need later or really, really want and can afford. This is key! Don’t spend money you don’t have!
The key things I look for in these type of sales are:
– Gender neutral gifts I can use for my kids going to birthday parties (usually educational, Lego or similar).
– Books for myself and my kids (I list my favourites below and where to get them).
– Courses. I have done a variety of courses over the years to learn about blogging, freelance writing, public speaking, consulting etc. Basically, educating myself online at a time that suits me. Some of the courses I did which accelerated my income are on sale!
– Things that will save me time or money.
With this mind, here are the best deals I am accessing or recommend to save you time and money or to improve your skills, knowledge and income. I do have a few affiliate links. Read my full disclosure here.
Earn More Writing – 25% off
If you want to be a freelance writer, this is the course for you! Holly and everyone I know personally who did this course make over $100,000 a year from freelance writing. She covers everything in the course including:
– Learn how to land jobs.
Learn how to find and land the type of work you want with the exact emails Holly used to get jobs herself.
– Earn more money.
This course easily pays for itself. Learn how to set your rates, command what you’re worth, and actually get paid for what you do.
– Discover what clients actually want.
You’ll learn what editors are looking for and how to become a writer they will love.
– Improve your efficiency.
Making money online hinges on more than talent and skill. I’ll teach you how to be more efficient, making your workday more productive and profitable.
Plus it is actionable advice you can use immediately. You get tips from real editors, access to the Facebook group (I’m in it), personalized coaching and more! Holly makes a living from freelance writing, not selling courses so she is an expert in her field.
Head to the website here and use the coupon code BLACK25 but the sale doesn’t start until 24th in the USA so 25th here in Aus.
SiteGround (my host for my sites) is 70% off!!!
I have tried numerous hosts and SiteGround is by far the best. Today only they have 70% off hosting packages. If you have ever thought about having your own blog, now is the time to do it! You can get your domain name, hosting and install WordPress easily plus they have chat available for instant help if you need.
I have a post here about how to get started blogging, plus a post here on how to start your business or blog for under $100. It’s also great if you want to become a virtual assistant. Plus, if you want extra help once set up, you can ask away in The Thrifty Issue Facebook group or I do offer private sessions on request.
Book Depository – already the cheapest, now another 10% off for 3 days!
Book Depository is my favourite place to buy books because they have always been the cheapest, shipping is fast and often I get vouchers with my orders. Plus if you are with Swagbucks you can get up to 6% cash back from your shop or Cash Rewards gives you 3.5% cash back. Make the most of your shopping and stock up for yourself and others this Christmas!
The books I am buying or recommend are:
The Barefoot Investor by Scott Pape – This is great for Aussies trying to get their finances sorted. It is a simple plan, in plain English that anyone can do.
Not Just Lucky by Jamila Rizvi – I was given this book and devoured half on a flight. Loved it, then got home and haven’t been able to finish it.
Get Rich Lucky Bitch by Denise Duffield-Thomas – great for changing your mindset about money (plus she is another Aussie).
Tools Of Titans by Timothy Ferriss – I devoured this on my long trip from Sydney to Dallas (return). I have never marked a book with underlining what I loved, writing notes in the pages or earmarking until now. It is a must read! I love his podcast, lived a slow carb life for a while after reading The 4-Hour Body and The 4-Hour Work Week was one of the books I first read when I went into business for myself.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*uck! – EVERYONE should read this. It will change how you think!
The Five People You Meet In Heaven by Mitch Albom – I loved Tuesdays With Morrie and this is a great read.
Daring Greatly by Brene Brown – I plan to read more of her books. This is the one I chose to start with.
Start With Why by Simon Sinek – I like his articles, his videos and interviews I have seen him in. I know our why is important, so am looking forward to this book.
Like A Virgin by Richard Branson – secrets they won’t teach you at business school. Branson is someone I love to learn from.
The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks – someone recommended it, so it’ll be interesting to see why.
Seven Secrets Of Mindfulness by Kate Carne – I picked this up over a year ago and still haven’t read it!
48 Laws Of Power – another book which has been recommended.
For my kids: Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls is top of my list. We have a special nightly routine where we read, I scratch their back or give them a massage and this book would be fantastic.
I could go on and on with books I recommend. Pick a few and go for it.
Catch Of The Day – up to 76% off!
If you love a bargain you probably already know about Catch Of The Day. They have everything on their site and for Black Friday it’s slashed even more. They have a huge selection of great gift ideas plus if you want to save all year, they have an exclusive club which is only $6.50 a month (you get free shipping, exclusive deals and more) or even cheaper annually at $69!
