Did you Know There is lots of Free Money you can get Today?
To be clear, this site is aimed at Australians, so the spelling and some words will be different (I know we have people from everywhere doing this challenge), but overall, most of the challenge can be applied to any country.
How to Find Free or Bonus Money
Free money sounds great, right? How much money do you think is out there, with your name on it and you don’t know or forgot? What about signup bonuses and other freebies?
Here are some plus ways to find other money. Note, I do use affiliate links in my posts for products and services I use. You can read my full disclosure here.
Bank Bonuses $25
Get $20 from 86 400! I’ve used 86 400 for a year now and they’ve been great. It’s fee-free banking and online only. Use the code S7VL6WF when you join free here to get your $20 after you use your card for the first time.
Get $5 from Up bank which I have been using for a while now. Get your $5 for joining in minutes.
Check The State Revenue Office
You can check on the MoneySmart website here, however, I found checking each state individually brought up payments owed to myself, friends and family that were not mentioned in the MoneySmart search. There are links to other options on the MoneySmart site.
It is free to search, then you fill in some forms, provide the paperwork and get paid. I had over $200 there, another friend $89, other friends have had a few thousand. I’d love to hear if and how much you get from it.
Check Superannuation (Retirement Funds)
If you have worked a few jobs you might have a few superannuation (retirement) accounts. Search and consolidate them all into one. This way, you will earn more interest and the money won’t be eaten away by fees in multiple accounts. You can check via the ATO website or via AUSFund. When I did this, I had over $900 in an account I was unaware of.
Check your balance from online surveys and loyalty programs then cash them in. If you use Swagbucks, Octopus Group or other online survey sites (this link has ones you can earn over $1,000 a year with), check them and cash them out.
Are you a member of FlyBuys, Everyday Rewards or any other loyalty programs? (You can find a complete list of Australian VIP and loyalty programs here plus 10 ways to get discounts and coupons here). Check them all, cash in your points for gift cards if you want to and if you don’t want to, at least make a note of them all so you know how much you have and from where in case you need it later.
Do you have any gift cards or gift certificates laying around, waiting to be used? Book them in to be used or sell them. With the loyalty programs, gift cards and cashing everything in, I found $430.57 worth.
Investing apps offer a signup bonus. Get $5 when you sign up to Raiz here.
If you don’t have much money to invest these apps are a great way to get started. You can invest as little as $5 though there can be fees e.g. Raiz has $1.25 a month for amounts under $5,000. For me, it’s been worth it.
Cash Back Programs
If you shop online at all, use the sites ShopBack, Cash Rewards or Honey to check you are getting the best rate and get cash back. Even Woolworths offers cash back through these sites. You can find out more here. When I moved and connected my internet I got $75 back through Cash Rewards. Every time I’ve shopped online since I joined I have received between $1 and $80 back.
Search For Cash
Read 11 ways to find money, then go through the pockets of all your clothes, search your handbags and purses, look under furniture, clean out your car and find cash in a variety of places. Once you have searched everywhere, bank the cash!
