How I Made $3,613.10 on the Side in November

In September I set the goal to make and save an extra $2,020 by the end of the year. In that month, I made $2,704 then last month made $1,136 and locked in $2,000 for this month. This month I made $3,613.10 Not a bad effort considering I am in and out of the hospital with pregnancy issues at the moment.

Here is what I did and how you can. Disclosure, this post may contain affiliate links.

Online Surveys – $549

I have a list of the best ones here but tested a few this month again to see how they are going. Octopus Group has had heaps of surveys at the moment. While I dislike their customer service, they do pay well.

I started with Rewardia this month which I hadn’t used before but they seem to have consistent surveys, not as highly paid as others. PrizeRebel and Swagbucks also did well for me this month.

Flyers – $353.10

Not one I could continue and while many hate doing this, it was areas I walk around anyway. Imagining living there, admiring specifics about homes and listening to podcasts so popping something in a letterbox as I did what I already did wasn’t an issue.

Odd Jobs – $2,580

This consisted of a couple of Airtasker gigs, including the $2,000 I locked in last month. I am particular about what I will and won’t do. A couple of clients I took on in September/early October I have let go as we were not a match.

Cash Back – $85

I use Cash Rewards, Shopback and Honey for cash back. The fact it’s Christmas time has helped push this up a little. Along with bonuses. Below are a few bonuses you can get.

These sites scan and work out discounts or cash back you can get from whatever online store you are shopping with. So the $20 purchase mentioned to qualify for the bonus means $20 spent at the store you planned on shopping, provided you activated the cash back program.

Shopback offers $15 as a bonus when you sign up free here and make a purchase worth $20 or more.

Cash Rewards offers you a $10 bonus when you sign up free here and make a purchase over $20.

Honey gives you 500 of Honey Gold. You need to accumulate more to be able to do anything with it though.

Always compare the options as sometimes one has a better deal than the other. You can only activate and use one deal site at a time though.

Bank Bonuses – $40

Up Bank offers $5 when you join then another $5 when you use your card 5 times in the first month. I’ve been with them for over a year, used them overseas and in Australia with no issues. No fees, great customer service in the app and bonus payments. Sign up free here.

86 400 offer $10 when you sign up here and use the code S7VL6WF. Similar deal to Up, I have used them for a little while now and it’s been easy.

Neither of these banks have branches, it is all online. But the fee free element is great!

Reselling – $6

I started a new little reselling project. So far, I bought one item for $2 and sold it for $8. Not a huge profit and I haven’t had time to dedicate to it. Previously, when I was buying things to resell I was making over $10,000 a month.

I’ll share more on this project soon. For more ways to make and save money check out The Ultimate Guide to Make and Save Money at Home.

How have you made money on the side lately?

  1. Hi thrifty issue
I am living a hard time here in Maputo because I am unemployed I would like to Know how can I get paid for answering online surveys just to get something going. Is this apply to any place in the world or just in Australia?

    • Hi Nelton, each site has different countries they allow. Most of the ones listed can be done from many countries. Octopus Group is specifically Australian but the others aren’t. It can be tough being unemployed but these might help.
