6 Side Hustles and a Random Bonus for January

A few years ago, we closely tracked side hustles and shared how much we made each month.

Here is a little side hustle update for the month of January.

Freelance Writing: $900

At one point this was a full time income, now due to a busy life, it is part time or a side hustle.

Bank Referrals

Some banks have sign up and referral bonuses. One is Ubank which offers new members $10 to $30 after they sign up with the code S7VL6WF and use their card 3 times.

ING offers $100 once you complete a few steps.

As a result, we received $155 in bank referral bonus money in January.

Cryptocurrency: $570

It’s highly volatile and something we do more for fun than fully investing. We’ve enjoyed it, although we are not sure everyone can handle the ups and downs of it, as it is more intense than the stock market.

Due to someone mentioning something we wrote for another site in a Facebook group, we got a surge of referrals resulting in $570 worth of Bitcoin through CoinSpot. This was unexpected but welcomed.

Online surveys are typically pretty easy plus many of the programs include referral bonuses. Our favourites are:

Pureprofile: We have a love/hate relationship with them. Usually, we get screened out, their payment terms are the worst out of all the online survey sites and customer service is terrible. But many readers love it so we have persisted with them.

Cashback: $71.96

We use cash back programs for all our purchases and keep an eye out for the special offers to make the most of it. This month, we cashed out from both (Shopback and one that has now closed).

Honey: Slightly different, Honey offers cash back but also scans for discounts and coupon codes. Join Honey for free here.

Cash in Cans $16.60

These were mostly from Christmas and from our walks. We try to go for a walk every day and without fail, will find 1 to 5 cans or bottles thrown on the ground.

For the rest of the year, we plan to keep them all and cash them all in at once.

Gambling $12.60

I hesitate to put this here as we do NOT condone gambling and it wasn’t intentional. We found an old lotto ticket from July 2021 and a scratchie from a Christmas gift totalling $12.60.
