My son is a bookworm, a major bookworm. He devours books like they are air. We got him the Harry Potter series for Christmas and within 2 weeks this 6yr old had finished them all, with that in mind we thought it would be a good idea to let him literally eat books for his birthday. It has been one of the easiest cakes I’ve made to date!
What you need:
1 square cake
Icing – a lot of it!
Cut the cake to make 2 rectangles, make one a bit bigger than the other. The bigger one will be the base cake.
Ice the cakes with a crumb layer and allow to set. I stick mine in the fridge for 20min or so.
Ice the base cake in whichever colour you choose. Make the sides of the book white to show the pages. Make both cakes a difference colour to make them noticeably 2 books.
Set one cake on on top of the other. You can do them stacked perfectly or have the top one at a angle.
Ice the second cake then add your detail. We went with Harry Potter on the bottom book and our sons name on the top one.
He was so excited when he saw the cake he almost didn’t want to eat it, almost.
Which book would you make for your child?
