1950’s cheeseball recipe

Recipes

My last housewarming was 1950’s themed with everyone dressing up, 1950’s food and entertainment. One recipe that was a hit is this cheeseball recipe.

1950's cheeseball recipe

I looked up a bunch of recipes and just sort of mashed ideas together to make this. A lot of cheese balls had gherkins and things in them but my sister in law has allergies so this one doesn’t have them.

Ingredients
250g cream cheese (I use Philadelphia)
3 Tablespoons mayonnaise
3 Tablespoons crushed pineapple, drained
1/2 red onion very finely diced
1/4 green capsicum, very finely diced
1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1/3 cup crushed walnuts

Mix everything except the nuts together. It will be a little runny. Wrap it in a ball in plastic wrap and place in the fridge for half an hour at least.

Once it is firm, press the crushed walnuts onto the ball and place it on the plate. I served it with celery and carrot sticks plus gluten free crackers. It was surprisingly good! You could add more Tabasco sauce if you want it spicier, but I knew I liked things spicier than my guests, so only did it mild.

What would you serve with a cheeseball? Have you ever had a 1950s party?

  1. This is making my mouth water! I love cheese balls. The 1940s are my fave but the 50s come in a close second. How fun! Would love to hear more details about the party. 😉
